Hero background
Coral Reefs Restoration

Ocean Gardener is a Non-Governmental Organization working towards reef education. Founded in 2016, This Indonesia-based NGO uses Coral Farming experience to educate the community.

The team was the first to create the first commercial coral mariculture farm in Indonesia. This initiative will allow the coastal community sustenance out of their reefs.

A mariculture farm would enable them to protect, replant, and restore damaged reef without having to take them from the reefs. Having obtained legal certifications to do so, Ocean Gardener is the first legal commercial farm in Indonesia.

They have obtained their license from Corals on annexe 2 of the CITES convention, or the Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species and therefore regulate the sustainable collection, transport, and trade of coral reefs.

The team then established new farms in areas such as Serangan in North-West Bali. Currently, they have seven farms in and around Bali, in Alas (Sumbawa), Sepeken (Madura) and Banyuwangi (Java).

With a collaborative team of marine biologists, coral farmers, divers, etc that are dedicated towards educating people about corals and reefs.
